Pirinska Bistritsa River
Pirin Mountains, Bulgaria

A Micro-Hydro Power Generation project, endorsed by the Bulgarian government, will build and operate a 'run-of-river' hydro power station in Bulgaria. This will reduce the amountof oil, gas and coal needed to generate electricity, offsetting about 11,000 tonnes of CO2/year.The project is to be developed within the state forestry reserve which extends over some 27,000 hectares.
